Photograph caption dated July 11, 1961 reads, "Mrs. Melba Rardin, director of nursing service at St. Joseph Hospital, 501 S. Buena Vista St., Burbank, surveys the vast excavation created to hold a new six-story-and-basement wing for the hospital. With her is L.A. Claypool, clerk of works for C.L. Peck, contractor on the $5,500,000 addition which will make possible 256 patient beds and other facilities."
