Description
"Combining 40 years of dedication to the cause of the San Jose Municipal Airport, San Jose businessman Ernest Renzel figuratively "took off" Friday. The occasion was a luncheon in his honor at the 94th Squadron Restaurant as he completed eight years on the Airport Commission. Above, Former San Jose City Manager O. W. "Hump" Campbell, former airport manager Jim Nissen and outgoing commission chairman Marilyn Nyman ham it up as Renzel looks on. Renzel, affectionately called the "Father of the San Jose Municipal Airport" began his work in 1937 as head of a committee that acquired land for the airport." July 17, 1977.
