Description: Map is a plan and profile sketch of "Market Place" for the City of San Jose in 1849. Handwritten on map is "Motion was made that said market place should be commenced at one end and to follow round until complete = passed." Map shows plans, including dimensions, for proposed marketplace to be 100 Varras x 50 varas (sic) with the actual room size being 20' square. Dated 27 October 1849. Original map -hand-drawn sketch in ink.
