Photograph was edited for publication purposes During the 1957 Marie McDonald kidnapping investigation, police noted that McDonald's story did not match the police evidence, and after an extensive investigation, they determined that they could not find any conclusive evidence that the event took place due to 'perplexing discrepancies'. A few weeks later, a grand jury convened to investigate the kidnapping, but after weighing the evidence, the grand jury could not come up with any conclusive evidence to bring charges against anyone. McDonald never admitted to staging her own kidnapping. Actress Marie 'The Body' McDonald, who received a $1,000,000 divorce settlement from wealthy shoe manufacturer Harry Karl last July, was reported missing and possibly kidnaped from her Encino home. The mother of the 32-year-old actress and ex-husband Karl both received anonymous telephone calls from a man who said he had Miss McDonald. McDonald and Karl were married nine years ago and separated twice, once in 1954 and again in 1955, when the actress obtained a divorce in Santa Monica. Pictured is estranged husband, Karl, as he talks with numerous reporters outside McDonald's home located at, 17031Magnolia Blvd, Encino. Photograph dated January 5, 1957.
