Description
This site was a cemetery as early as 1846 and it became an Army Post cemetery in 1860. It contains the remains of soldiers from the Battle of San Pasqual, the explosion of the USS Bennington, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and the Gulf War. While it was earlier known as Bennington National Cemetery, the site was changed to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in 1934. It is located at Point Loma in San Diego, CA and is still accepting cremated remains.
