Written on reverse, "Anaheim Landing about 1888" and "Mrs. R. Seward."
Anaheim Landing, located at the NE corner of Seal Beach Blvd. and Electric Ave, in what is now known as Seal Beach (incorporated 1915); in 1857, the Anaheim Lighter Company (Frederick Schneider, president) established Anaheim Landing as a port for the Santa Ana Valley; despite treacherous entrance conditions that caused several disasters, regular coastwise trade was carried on here for about 15 years; image shows view of landing looking inland, with many tents, horses, horse and carriages, and figures; woman and child standing near tent in foreground.
