Description
A workman painting in the dining room alcove of Leslie C. Brand's former home, El Miradero. The alcove is comprised of a window and window seat. The window is a large fixed glass with a cusped ogee-arched leaded-glass transom. Carved Corinthian columns and a lintel frame the opening of the alcove. The columns support an elaborately carved arch, which frames the window. Walnut wainscoting covers the lower half of the walls and the alcove. The wainscoting was added during the renovation that took place in the mid-1950s. This dining room is being converted into Brand Library's art reading room and the library opened in 1956.
