Description
Three library staff members are looking at the dining room alcove of Leslie C. Brand's former home, El Miradero. The alcove is comprised of a window and window seat. The window is a large fixed glass with a cusped ogee-arched leaded-glass transom. Carved Corinthian columns and a lintel frame the opening of the alcove. The columns support an elaborately carved arch, which frames the window. Walnut wainscoting covers the lower half of the walls and the alcove. The wainscoting and vertical blinds were added during the renovation that took place in the mid-1950s. This space would be converted into Brand Library's art reading room when the library opened in 1956. “7-15-54 GNP article”--Handwritten caption on verso. Title supplied by cataloger.
