View of Lucy, Mabel and Elsie Ziegler, daughters of John and Mary Ziegler, standing by the fence behind the Commercial Hotel; John Ziegler moved his family to Anaheim in 1905 from New Jersey, to provide a healthier climate for his son, John Jr.; John Jr. died a year later; John Sr. invested in the Commercial Hotel, and in 1916 he built the Hotel Valencia on the same site; visible in the background is the Bennerscheidt residence, originally Anaheim's first sanitarium.
