Description
The streets and roads of Turlock were still dirt rather than paved in 1909. There are utility poles along each side of the road indicating that electricity was available. Next to the house on the left is a windmill suggesting individual homes continued to have their own wells to obtain water. This photograph shows that the rains could be so intense it could take days for the water to drain away and that a drainage system was not yet in place.
