OV -- Furnace remains/S prb. -- Islolated remains of a furnace for copper smelting, near layers of slag and other remains directly connected to a small scale industry of copper working. -- Represents remains from the earlier phase of the post-main phase small scale copper industry activity adjacent to the south wall of the gate complex, located

Large fragments of a furnace, tuyere pipes, and pieces of charred wood.
W- W64, E-L41, N-L57, S-L56.
Area stratum III
Covered by surface layers of the later phases' installtions. The furnace itself would have been broken immediatlly following use for copper extraction. -- The furnace, its particles and the large concentration of slag immediatelly to the south indicate localized copper smelting that probably would not have been part -- below installtions of the later phase. -- of the original utilization of the fort and its gate complex.
