Description
George R. Bierman was promoted from within the ranks of Union Pacific Railroad. He began as a file clerk in Omaha and worked his way up to "the boss of passenger business at the Los Angeles end of the line." His promotion was reported in "Rail Agent Rises from Mail Clerk: George R. Bierman Named to Success Col. Tom Peck With Union Pacific," Los Angeles Times, 2 Nov. 1926: A13.
