Description
Date on back of poster, 1994, reflects when the vendor received the copy later acquired by the UCLA Library. Poster held by Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library. History & Special Collections, Collection no. 306, item SZ037. A safety pin is shown pinned onto the lapel of a man's suit. The poster image is a black and white photo showing the left-hand side of a man's torso, from his chin to his shoulder; he is wearing a tie, a shirt with button-down collar, and a suit. Vertically along the right side of the poster are five olive-yellow boxes containing the texts, with a little safety pin image next to each one. What the safety pin stands for are: new feelings, responsibility, solidarity, trust, and open verbal communication. If a man practices safe sex, his wearing of the safety pin would let others know that they can talk with him about it.
