This photograph is similar to another one of the 1929 fire in Griffith Park captioned, “Griffith Park Fire Taken at its Height Yesterday from Western Avenue Entrance to Park. (Times photo.),” Los Angeles Times, 21 Dec. 1929: A10 Hills line a canyon that winds through the image from the lower left corner and into the near distance, just right-of-center. It sits below the camera's sight line. In the near distance at center, a ridge rises. Immediately behind the ridge, thick smoke billows and rises towards the sky. The film of smoke spans the upper half of the image.
