The annual old folks picnic was held at Sycamore Grove thanks to the Federation of States Society. Entertainment was provided by accordion player Alma Dube, and the old folks enjoyed dancing. The oldest in attendance was 106-year-old Hiram H. Reynolds and the longest-married couple was Mr. and Mrs. Winslow Thomas, married 63 years.
Alma plays an accordion strapped across her chest, watching Mr. Brubaker take one hand of Mrs. Blandin who holds a parasol over her head. Mrs. Blandin wears a costumed dress with lace, flowers, pins and a picture of George Washington.
Photograph appears with the article, "Old Folks Picnic Draws 500 Lively 'Youngsters'," Los Angeles Times, 08 Sep 1935: 8.
