Prostitute stands in front of the cribs on Alameda Street. The cribs were buildings rented out exclusively for the transactional business of prostitution. She wears a frilly outfit that look like a nightgown. She stands in front of a doorway and in the shadow of a tree.
Text from negative sleeve: 16. Los Angeles, Alameda Street. 1896. These pictures were taken along Alameda Street, Los Angeles, between Macy and Aliso Streets. Both sides of the street were lined with these cribs, and passengers on S.P.R.R. trains arriving in Los Angeles looked out of the cars on these scenes. 6 negatives.
