Cribs on Alameda Street. The cribs, which were buildings rented out exclusively for the transactional business of prostitution feature large shutters. One door is open and the room within can be seen, including a chair and an object covered by what may be a sheet.
Text from negative sleeve: 16. Los Angeles, Alameda Street. 1896. These pictures were taken along Alameda Street, Los Angeles, between Macy and Aliso Streets. Both sides of the street were lined with these cribs, and passengers on S.P.R.R. trains arriving in Los Angeles looked out of the cars on these scenes. 6 negatives.
