Photograph of a donkey rearing on its hind legs while 3 men try to gain control of it in the barnyard at Captain C. E. (Cameron Erskine) Thom's ranch in Glendale. The donkey is at center and faces the camera directly as it rears on its hind legs. Two men stand on either side of the donkey trying to control the animal and a third man stands behind the donkey. A fourth man stands and watches in the right foreground. He faces the scene at center. A stable at right extends back towards the horizon. A couple of horses graze in the barnyard in the distance at left. In the background, a barn stands at the other side of the barnyard.
