Text from negative sleeve: 548. Gardner Creek trip, about 1919. Coming down the final trail to Gardner Creek. Looking down at the lakes ahead. Our first camp on a little meadow not far from Gardner Creek canyon. When we got there, I told the guide I would go get some fish for supper. Asked him how far Gardner Creek was. He said you can get there in 15 minutes, but it will take you two hours to come back to camp. I took my pole and walked a hundred yards thru the brush and came to the brink of a whale of a canyon, with Gardner Creek about 1500 feet almost straight down. I did not go down that evening for fish. We went down next day and caught limits of Golden trout out of Gardner Creek without fishing more than four of five pools. Full of fish. 4 negatives.
