Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Jesse Brown posing with 2 of the trout caught at Gull and June Lakes. He stands just left-of-center, holds a trout in each hand by the fishes' gills and looks in the general vicinity of the camera. He stands on a dirt road that stretches behind him. Pine needles and branches hang overhead on the right from a tree out of frame. Snow-covered mountains are visible in the distance. Text from negative sleeve: 562. Convict Lake - Gull Lake, about 1920. The little stream between Gull and June lakes could be hopped across. Full of big 4 and 5 lb trout coming up to spawn. Would not take baits. We made spears of pine branches and speared them in the bends of the creek along the bank. Brown trying to spear a trout under the bank. 2 pictures of Brown with the trout we were catching. About 25 lbs of trout. 3 negatives
