Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. H. H. West's brother-in-law, William Shaw, stands next to a tent adjusting a camera. He wears a hat and boots. There are trees, bushes, and mountains in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 727. Pine Creek, Calif. About 1930. Will Shaw, H. H. West Jr., Mertie West, Forrest and Agnes Whitaker start for headwaters of the Owens River. Above Olanche I burn out a bearing in my old Chandler and it breaks the crank case and Pete Aigner at Lone Pine says not worth putting new engine in. I sell the old car to Pete for $30.00. Forrest then makes two trips from Lone pine to Gray's Meadows on Pine Creek where we spend our vacation instead of in Owens Valley. 1. Mertie West at the stove. In camp. 2. Will Shaw in front of his tent adjusting his camera. 3. Forrest and Agnes Whitaker in front of their tent. 3 negatives.
