Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. William Shaw sits at a campsite while three others (probably Mertie West and Agnes and Forrest Whitaker) stand in the background. The three others stand by a table. There are chairs and other items on the ground at the left and right. There are mountains in the background. Mertie West was H. H. West's second wife. Forrest Whitaker was her brother and Agnes was Forrest's wife. William Shaw was Mertie and Forrest's brother-in-law. Text from negative sleeve: 731. Pine Creek, Calif. About 1930. A group on the creek. L to R: Mertie West, Will Shaw, Agnes Whitaker, H. H. West Jr, Forrest Whitaker. A small photo of our camp. We had to hang a big pail up and keep food in it to keep it away from ants. Also acted as cooler, as hung in the shade and was plenty cool at that altitude. 2 negatives.
