Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. By 1900 H. H. West and other members of his family lived in Los Angeles. Text from negative sleeve: 777. East. Red Oak, Iowa. 1900. A close up of our old barn, taken from Longstreet's yard on the west. Shows the cupola and dormer windows. The lean to had been added after we left Red Oak. The big cottonwood trees at the front end of the barn yard do no show in this picture. The house in the rear was built after we left Red Oak. A subdivision had been made of the old pasture behind our barn, and houses built. Where that house stands used to be our base ball ground, and the pasture was covered with short white clover and made a fine ball ground.
