John Duvall and Mary Haas on the beach with the camera obscura in the background. Mary's back is to the camera and she wears a dress with a white collar. Her hair is up and she wears a hat. John is in a bathing suit and has his hands on his hips. There are other people on the beach. Some of the men are in bathing suits and some wear suits and hats.
Text from negative sleeve: 1230. Santa Monica, Calif. About 1895. The beach and camera obscura in front of the North Beach bath house. 1. John Duvall in bathing suit, facing camera. The girl on walk with back to camera is May Hasse [sic], who he afterward married. They live on Lincoln Park Ave, Lincoln Heights in 1942 and the papers say John is on the Federal Grand Jury. 2. 3. Two more view [sic] of the beach and Camera Obscura. 4. Interior of the North Beach House plunge. 4 films.
