The camera looks down the table from the side. The table is centered in the image and is at its widest in the foreground along the bottom edge. It tapers as extends far into the distance. The table is strewn with cups plates and food as about a dozen men sit on each side of the table and dine. At the far end of the table and on the right, Jim Jeffries stands above the table and holds a pair of binoculars to his face as he gazes off towards the left. Trees stand in the background behind the picnic area. Text from negative sleeve: 1240. Santa Monica Canyon about 1908. Rubber Men's picnic. 1. Joe Pike climbing the greased pole. 2. Jim Jeffries gets up at end of table and makes a one minute speech. 3. Prestolite ad for Guy M West. The Western Rubber and Supply Co. was agent for the Prestolite Company then. 4.
