Backyard of the West's house. H. H. West's brother, Wayne, sits on a chair at the right holding a book. The backyard is manicured with plants and small trees. A fence surrounds it and there is a shed at the back with shovels leaning up against it. The house is visible at the right. There are other houses visible in the background.
Text from negative sleeve: 1753. Los Angeles, Calif. 240 South Griffin Ave., 1897. 1. The view of the Catholic Church from our front lawn; also Penning's house at right. Guy West's dog and the two Daugherty children, from next door north, on the lawn. 2. Our front lawn, and the front of our house looking north on Griffin. 3. I laid the rear yard out beautifully. Wayne West in the chair at right. Our chicken yard at left and little shed on the right hand corner. 4. 5. Two pictures of bicycle riders on triplex in front of our house. As they are moving, they are no good for portraits. 5 films.
