Photograph of Mertie West standing beside a totem pole outside Saxman Totem Park. Tall grasses stand in the foreground and surround the totem pole. A slight clearing leads to the totem pole that stands in the near distance, left-of-center, and rises beyond the top frame. Mertie West stands to the left of the totem pole and faces right. A carved, crouching figure sits to the right of the totem pole. The crouching figure reaches a hand out towards the figure carved at the base of the totem pole. The figure at the base catches the crouching figure's hand in its mouth. Mountains rise in the far distance.
