Photograph of houses lining the back of the wharf in Metlakatla, Alaska. The scene is viewed from an elevated perspective. About a dozen houses stand atop a low cliff that stretches across the background and into the distance. At the base of the cliff, a low stone wall lines the back end of a narrow beach. Water extends from the foreground and back to the beach at left and center. In the near distance at right, a warehouse-like building stands atop an elevated pier. In front of it, another building stands in partial in the lower right corner. At center, a fishing boat (partial view) enters frame from the bottom edge. Its bow faces towards the back of the image.
