Description

Photograph of a 2-story building in Red Oak, Iowa that used to house the County Treasurer's office and a grocery store named Morrell's. The brick-paved intersection of Reed Street and North 5th Street spans the foreground. North 5th St. veers towards the right and Reed Street veers towards the left. In the near distance, a 2-story building and adjacent buildings stands on the northwest corner of the intersection, extending on an angle back towards the left. It is viewed at an angle from the front. The side of the building stretches back along North 5th Street. From right to left, signage for the occupants of buildings reads, "ALLEN'S ELECTRIC HATCHERY," and "LOVIT ICE CREAM LUNCH SANDWICHES DRINK Coca-Cola." Along the side of the building at right, advertisements are painted, including one for Coca-Cola. Text from negative sleeve: 2235. Red Oak, Iowa, Nov.22, 1946 1. Left upper room used to be the County Treasurer['s] office when G.M.West was Co.Treas. Lower at that time was wholesale grocery called Morrell's.
