Photograph of Canal Street in New Orleans, as viewed from the southeast and looking northwest. Canal Street enters frame from the lower right corner and stretches back on an angle towards center. A sidewalk, lined by buildings, extends alongside it at left. From front to back, signage on the buildings reads, "[...]TER 'RIFF RAFF' WITH PAT O'BRIEN WALTER SLEZAK," "THE ROOSEVELT HOTEL," "CANAL LOAN & JEWELRY CO. INC. DIAMONDS GIFTS LUGGAGE LOANS," "JEWELRY NOVELTIES," and "GIFTS." Two cars drive down Canal Street in the foreground at right. They both approach camera and are viewed at an angle from the front. The lead car's front end extends beyond the right frame. Beyond and to the right of the cars, a median stretches through the middle of the street. A cable car travels down the median in the distance at center. Buildings line the right side of Canal Street. Some of the signage, from front to back reads, "KRESS," "ALLEN'S [???] SHOES," McCRORYS," "S[??]NGER," and "KRAUSS." Flags, banners and cable car lines hover over the street.
