An out-of-focus photograph of Mertie West posing beside the Fox Hill Plaque in Boston Common. Mertie West stands, left-of-center, facing right, but looks to the camera. To the right of her, a tall, stone post stands. Affixed to it is the Fox Hill Plaque. The bronze tablet contains a relief at top and below the relief, it reads, "THE SITE OF FOX HILL FORTIFIED DURING THE SIEGE OF BOSTON FROM THE [BOTTOM] OF THE [COMMON] THE [BRITISH CROSSED] THE [CHARLES RIVER 18 APRIL 1775] TO PROCEED TO [LEXINGTON] AND CONCORD THIS [TABLET PLACED BY THE CITY OF BOSTON 1925]." In the foreground, an unidentified woman stands in partial view along the left edge. Behind Mertie and the post, a walkway in the Common stretches back through center. It is lined by trees. Beyond the tree-lined walkway, the park opens up to an open, grassy expanse. Four punched holes line the top edge at left.
According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white.
