A black mat stretches in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on an upward angle from right to left. At center, a guard is caught mid-stride walking down the mat and in front of the tomb. He is in profile, facing right. The guard rests a rifle to his near shoulder as he marches past the tomb. Behind and to the right of him, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier stands. The marble, neoclassical monument is viewed at an angle from its west face. The south face stretches back to the right. It is surrounded by posts linked with chains. Wide stone steps cascade behind it and into the distance, towards a mall at right. Trees line the far side of the steps in the background. Four punched holes dot the bottom edge at right.
