West stands in front of the man-made pond's near edge at center. He faces slightly left as he looks to the camera. The large pond sits behind him in partial view. It enters frame from the right corner, curving towards the left and back through center. A wide, brick-paved walkway stretches along the bottom edge and curves around the pond as it extends into the distance at left. Trees line the walkway that encircles the pond. Beyond the park, part of a building is visible above the treetops in the background at right. Text from negative sleeve: 2351 Eastern trip October 1947 Boston 1 Marker of redoubt on Bunker Hill 2 H.H.West beside Frog pond in the Common 3 Same - close up 4 H.H.West at Crispus Atticks [sic] shaft in the commons 5 Mertie West reading tablet in corner of commons 6 & 7 Tomb of Paul Revere in Old Granary burying ground.
