Photograph of Catalina Island, as viewed from the approaching S. S. Catalina ferry. The image appears to tilt downward to the right. Passengers standing in front of the camera obscure the landscape. They stand in the foreground with their backs to the camera. Beyond them, water stretches across the mid-ground. A few boats are visible in the water at right. Brush-covered hills and cliffs rise from the shore of Catalina Island in the distance. A wide band of white extends along the left edge.
