Description: Scope/Content: An oral history with Maryam Mansouri, who immigrated from Iran 25 years ago. Mansouri is a doctor of Acupuncture who owns her own practice in Orange County, California. During this interview, Mansouri talks about her experience on a cruise ship in Alaska. She also discusses the role the ocean played in her immigration journey. She recalls her memories of flying from Iran to America, and how she saw the ocean for the first time as she looked out the window during the plane ride. Having never been near the ocean during her time in Iran, she vividly describes what it is like to be living near one and the impact it has on her, specifically her religious beliefs. All in all, she highly recommends that everyone go on a cruise at least once in their lifetime so that they can be surrounded by the beauty and vastness of the ocean.
