Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Eli Laya, who originated from the Philippines and moved to America for four years before moving back. Laya talks about the ways in which the beach reminds her of her family and connects her to them. Laya shares that when she was at the beach in America, she was reminded of the beaches back home and the peace that they brought her growing up, as well as of the oceans that her family traveled on and had connections to. She explains that in the Philippines she uses the ocean to feel connected to her family and friends back in America. She also thinks of her time at the beach when she’s facing hardships and it reminds her that her family is always with her.
