[Written on photograph] Water loving vegetation near the Hartman Cabin in the Sespe, at the base of the mountain, indicating that there is 'Free' water in the soil. Destruction of that vegetation might result in the springs developing due to a reduction in water loss from transpiration. A conservation program based on the removal of this type of vegetation located in the canyon bottoms mostly, rather than burning the drought resistant types, would result in considerable saving of water. This water loving type uses approximately eight acre feet per year. [Negative digitized]
