Letter from Myer, Director of the War Relocation Authority, urging Dies, Chairman of the Special Committee to Investigate Un-American Activities, to keep the committee from making incomplete public statements about the War Relocation Authority during the war. The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
