Description
A stream flows down from a canyon near the hot springs resort of Glen Ivy in Corona. While the resort was well known and appreciated among Native Americans, Spaniards and early European settlers, it was not until 1913, when Frank and Mabel Johnson bought Glen Ivy Hot Springs, that the resort was put on the map. The Johnsons expanded the spa's hotel and brought in electricity and natural gas. Their improvements also included rebuilding "The Plunge" swimming pool, which had been built within an 1880s rock-and-mortar shell. The investment that the Johnsons made helped make the resort a "destination" among Hollywood's elite. As of 2008, Glen Ivy, despite additional renovations and expansion projects, maintains much of its historic character.
