Photograph caption dated July 5, 1987 reads, "Johnnie Mae Tucker, left, and Mabel Jefferson comfort each other after crash killed 3 grandchildren, in photos, and tots' dad." A sedan, traveling between 70 and 90 mph down Hoover Street at Gage Avenue, ran a red light early Friday morning and crashed so hard into a car driven by Tucker's daughter, Lydia, that the vehicle was split in half and its five occupants flung in all directions. Lydia Tucker, 20, survived, but her boyfriend, Michael Magee, 25, and their three children, Duwone Magee, 11 months, Ryan Wagner, 3, and Shenike Magee, 2, all died at the scene. The driver, David Columbus Hasson, Jr., 33, was booked on suspicion of murder and taken to Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Center. Mabel Jefferson is Lydia Tucker's aunt.
