A man stands before the shaded porch of the one-story flat-roof house on which a woman stands. A large tree grows near the porch in the yard. Caption reads: "Stephen C. Foster". From a photographic plate with two other images (CHS-4996 & CHS-4997). Picture file card reads: "Stephen C. Foster and residence, San Pedro Street between 1st and 2nd. Originally built by his father-in-law Antonio Maria Lugo, ca.1817 or 1818".
