Description
The 1840 annual report reflects the evolution from manuscripts to printed documents in Alta California. The report includes the baptisms, marriages and deaths of Spaniards and Indians and the magnitude of the declining native population of Santa Clara (344). The report also mentions the liturgical vestments and ornaments acquired that year.
