Photograph caption dated September 8, 1958 reads, "Flashing bolts of lightning crackled across skies above Newhall during peak of fast-moving thunderstorm which lashed area during weekend. Photo was made with 10-second time exposure from Highway 99 looking north from spot near Weljon Canyon. Lightning set off numerous brush fires in areas and fire crews were kept on alert throughout storm."
