Original photograph has a vertical crease on the left side of the picture. The Streamline Moderne style Hollywood Park, built in 1937, was located at 1050 South Prairie Avenue in Inglewood. It was designed by architect Stiles O. Clements and landscape architect Edward Huntsman-Trout. Later additions to the park were designed by Fred Barlow, Jr. In 2012, the property was renamed Betfair Hollywood Park. The park closed in May, 2013 and development of a football stadium complex began in October, 2016. Photograph caption dated October 2, 1963 reads "The wheels are turning at Hollywood Park where the Western Harness Racing Association opened its annual fall meeting in Inglewood Tuesday. The starter is Mac McDowell with 18 years in the starting car at both Hollypark and Santa Anita. To get this dramatic opening day photo, Valley Times photographer Gordon Dean rode right behind Mac, clicking pictures over his shoulder."
