Description
Photo of rear view of Casa Grande, the mine manager's residence. Behind the house is a large pond, reflecting the image of the house perfectly. A young man is walking on the path between the house and the pond. A smaller building is to the left of Casa Grande. Bottom right of photo is frayed, as if cut by scissors. On back of photo: "Top - Casa Grande, The Hacienda, New Almaden, California. Photo by RR Bulmore 1894. Casa Grande was built in 1854 by Francis Meyers and was the official residence of managers of the Quicksilver Mining Co." [Note: Meyers is the spelling found in most references to Casa Grande, but there is evidence that the spelling was actually Myers]
