The University of Southern California was dedicated on October 6, 1880. The Methodist Episcopal University Church, later known as the United University Church, UUE, and now known as Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace, is located at 817 West 34th Street. The building was designed in 1931 by C. Raimond Johnson in the traditional Romanesque Revival architecture of the campus.
Photograph caption date stamped June 3, 1964 reads "Ron Thomas of Birmingham stands confidently atop the Bovard Field mound before pitching to next batter in Tuesday's Birmingham-Grant City title game. Thomas allowed the Lancers just five hits in pitching his 12th win of the season." Bovard Field is on the University of Southern California campus.
