Description
Les enfants de l'orphelinat pilant le riz" ("Children of the orphanage crushing rice"). In a courtyard, ten Malagasy girls distribute rice among three large pots and various other baskets. Some of the girls are holding bunches of long brown grass. Others watch while sitting on the ground. Postcard issued by Les Franciscaines Missionnaires de Marie en Mission.
The back of the postcard is blank and contains a printed description of Les Franciscaines Missionnaires de Marie: "ont actuellement en pays de Mission 145 maisons avec 156 ecoles, plus 389 oeuvres pour l'enfance groupant 56.000 enfants. Elles ont en outre pour les malades 47 hopitaux avec 71.000 malades hospitalises dans l'annee, 7 leproseries avec 1.507 lepreux, 7 lazarets avec 1.873 contagieux et 107 dispensaires ou 2.100.000 soins ont ete donnes en 1926." ("They currently have in Mission countries 145 houses with 156 schools, plus 389 works for children grouping 56.000 children. Moreover for the sick they have 47 hospitals with 71.000 patients hospitalized within the year, 7 leper-houses with 1.507 leprous, 7 lazarets with 1.873 contagious and 107 dispensaries where 2.100.000 were given care in 1926.").
