Description
Gradual from Maundy Thursday to the vigil of Pentecost. Illuminated manuscript on parchment. Five lines of text and music: text in Latin and music in plainsong notation, red, four-line staves with black neumes. Many pages contain decorated initials and nine pages contain large historiated initials enclosed by floral borders. The book was written in northern France, probably Rouen, in the early 16th century. Bound in blind stamped leather over heavy boards with four corner bosses and one center boss on each cover. The remains of clasps are on the fore edge of the front cover.
