Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Calamigos Star C Ranch was founded by J. Grant and Helen Gerson in 1947. The 120-acre ranch was built to resemble a town in the Old West, holding overnight summer camp and later switching to day camp. The teen-age Beauty Farm was opened in 1961. The "farm" functioned as a health club, charm school, and summer camp all rolled into one. The ranch is now used for weddings, conferences, corporate picnics and movie and TV shoots, and is operated by the Gerson's grandsons, Garrett and Garner Gerson. Photograph caption dated August 17, 1963 reads "Teen-age girls learn art of being attractive at this unique 'beauty farm' in the hills above Malibu." At the top of the photo is a disembodied head next to a word bubble with the words "You don't have to bite my head off! ...I'll put my clothes on!"
