Description
This photograph is of an eighth-grade class from the Our Lady of the Assumption School during the 1961-1962 school year. Located at 2141 Walnut Avenue in Carmichael, California, Our Lady of the Assumption School opened on September 7, 1955, as the parish school of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. The school was the vision of Father Thomas Bannon who felt that a Catholic education should be available for all young people of the parish as it would form them deeper in their faith and instill in them a better value system. Two nuns from the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary were employed at the school when it opened.
